Let’s start on positive note with the bits and pieces you are going to like about this software application. The first thing you will notice about NoteMagic Lite is the fact that the download weighs in at some 4MB. You will notice this first because, well, downloading the application is the first step in putting it though its paces. Now at 4MB, on a high-speed internet connection, the download will complete in no time at all.

The next logical step, after the download completes, is to install the application on your computer. You will like that the installation process completes in no time at all, and you will like that it goes smoothly.

During the installation process you are asked if you would like to perform:
- A typical installation: program is installed with the most common options.
- A minimal installation: program is installed with the minimum required options.
- A Custom installation: you get to select what is installed and what isn’t.

Once the application is up and running, you will like what it can do. Here’s a shakedown of the bits you can do with NoteMagic Lite:
- Open, edit, save and print text files.
- Spell check text files written in English to ensure they do not contain any spelling mistakes.
- Insert the date and/or the time into the text document.
- NoteMagic can automatically launch at startup.

To put it bluntly, NoteMagic Lite is a better version of NotePad, the utility that comes bundled with the Windows operating system.

Last but not least, you will like that you can use NoteMagic for as long as you want without having to pay a dime. This is because NoteMagic is freeware. The catch is that you have to get an activation code to start using.

There is one thing you are not going to like. You’re not going to like that NoteMagic Lite is the lightweight version of NoteMagic. NoteMagic offers more features than NoteMagic Lite; the downside is that it is not freeware.

If you need a simple text-editing utility that is better than Notepad, then by all means get NoteMagic Lite. But there are other free text editors out there that you may want to try first.
